I have a 1995 Grand Prix and this is how my shift knob came off. First turn your key to the on position (turn your key all the way forward without starting the car). Next shift your car into the lowest gear so that your shifter is all the way back and then you can access the clip. The clip is located underneath the shift button. Next, remove the clip (I used a screwdriver to basically pry out the clip). Now pull straight up on the shifter knob and it should pop right off. Mine took some force and I believe I had to wiggle mine a little. I hope this helps
I know there is a little piece under the indicator the helps the light move but the part is discontinued. You can maybe find another car that has the same setup and get the piece.
To replace the shift knob in a 2000 Volvo S70, first, ensure the car is in the "Park" position. Gently pull the old shift knob upwards to release it from the lever; it may require some force. Once removed, slide the new shift knob onto the lever until it clicks into place. Finally, test the knob to ensure it is securely attached before driving.
Try pulling on the knob. Usually these are press fitted on, and will pull off with a little effort.
Unscrew it counterclockwise. Look to see if there is a retaining screw. If so loosen it with an Allen key and then unscrew the shifter knob.
On the 2000 the knob is on a spline on the shift lever. You'll either have to cut it off, or if you want to reuse it take out the lever by unscrewing the nut under the shaft, place the shaft in a vise and pound off the knob with a soft hammer.
The shifter knob has a horseshoe shaped clip that can be pryed out with a small flathead screw driver. Once removed, the knob will pull off.
To remove the gear shift knob on a 2000 Volvo S70, first ensure the gear lever is in the "Drive" position. Then, locate the small plastic cover at the base of the knob and pry it off gently with a flat tool. Next, you may need to press down on a release button or tab located beneath the knob to unlock it. Finally, pull the knob straight up to detach it from the shift lever.
Yes, a universal shift knob will work in the Volkswagen Golf. The shift knob is added to the shift column by removing the top of the knob and using the included screw to attach the knob.
