Let the machine cool before trying to start it (I hope the turbo's okay!).
- Blow out the radiator and see if that helps. That's the most common reason for heating.
- Check radiator. Does it have enough coolant? (if I recall, the coolant should be about an inch from the top)
- One or more thermostats may be stuck.
- Is your water pump working?
- Does your fan have a clutch? If so, it might not be working.
The first Agricultural diesel tractor they made was the WD45d, which was introduced in 1954. This tractor had a 230 cu in buda inline 6 indirect injection diesel.
To start your diesel tractor when its cold make sure to plug it in for several hours before use. Also keep a tarp over the hood to help keep the oil warm and moving. Storing your tractor in a shed where it is protected will also help.
If engine starts, Fevs, then dies. Check for diesel fuel in gas tank.

If your tractor cannot start, check your safety switches.
You have to buy it before you start playing.
overheated and wont start
If the engine turns over the batteries are fine. Diesels require special equipment to troubleshoot, take it to a shop that is competent in diesel engines.
To wire a one-wire alternator on a diesel farm tractor, first ensure the engine is off and the battery is disconnected for safety. Connect the single output terminal of the alternator to the positive terminal of the battery. Ground the alternator’s housing to the tractor’s frame or engine block, as it typically relies on a good ground connection to function properly. Finally, reconnect the battery and start the engine to verify that the alternator is charging correctly.
no diesel
The computer is protecting the engine by not allowing it to start or run while in an overheated condition. Once the engine cools down to a safe operating temperature the computer will allow it to be re-started.
