To turn on the running lights on a 2004 GMC, simply ensure that the vehicle is in the "On" or "Run" position. Then, pull the headlight switch knob located on the dashboard toward you until it clicks, which activates the running lights. Make sure the vehicle's parking brake is released, as some models may require this for the running lights to function. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions related to your model.

Our 04 Envoy had a recall on turn signals and tail-lights, they just had to replace a relay. I would check with your dealer to see if your vehicle has been recalled.
there's a fuse in the fusebox I have a 1997 gmc and that worked for me
2001 GMC Savanna Van Daylight running lights. Do I need to disable the daylight running lights so I can install HID lighting system, for it to work?
We have both a 2000 Safari and Astro and the lights turns off the same in both vans. To the left of the lights knob there is a button you can press to turn the dome lights on and off. If you press it 4 times it will turn your running lights off. The headlights automatically turn on in our vans and they are turned off the same way.
The whole turn signal arm unit needs to be replaced

Probably a fuse
To disable the daytime running lights (DRLs) on a 2004 GMC Envoy, you can locate the fuse box, typically found under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. Remove the fuse labeled for the DRLs, which is usually indicated in the owner's manual. Alternatively, you can adjust the settings through the vehicle's headlight switch if it has that capability. Always consult your owner's manual for specific instructions related to your model.
As far as I know, the only way to do that is to turn the daytime running lights off. Not sure how to do that in the 4.3 liter, but in my 2002 with a 2.2L, there's a button near the headlight switch. Just push it in 4 times in a row to turn the DRL's off. You should hear a chime after the fourth time you push it. Repeat the process to turn them back on.
Same fuse as the tail light circuit.
