Use the key or remote. Okay, not what you were looking for.

I've owned an Expedition for 11 years, and locked my only keys in the vehcile once and had several very knowledgable friends (cops, tow truck operator, etc) try to open the vehicle with no luck.

The problem is three fold, as you've probably found out. First, the inner door handle does is disabled when the doors are locked. Second, (as I'm told) the lock linkage is intentionally blocked preventing a jimmy from being slide down the window to unlock the door. Third (and I can't remember what's it's called right now) the lock pin thingy on the outside top of the door (what you can grab to unlock the vehicle if you were inside) is almost impossible to grab with any type of tool that you slide through the side of the door (if you can). Because of the way the window seals at the top, you can not get a tool between the window and the top of the door, not that it would do you much good if you could.

Bottom line is you have to call a lock smith, one was able to get inside my truck and make me a key that I could stick in my wallet. It won't start the truck as it doesn't have a code mechanism, but it lets me in when I lock my keys inside.
