You have to fix the cause of the code that put the trans computer in limp in. That could involve a new trans.
Check all fuses and ground wire going to trans. I got lucky with my 98 and just had a bad gauge fuse (speedometer stopped working). Which also could have been a bad speed sensor (output) but the dash light which says what gear I was in was out to so.
