I just changed them on my 2003, and it is a lot of work. I removed the wheel, brake caliper and axle nut. Also I removed the Stabilizer pin by cutting it off so the control arm be free. Disconnect the tie rod as well using a separating tool. You need to disconnect and separate the ball joint from the spindle bearing assembly ( a special seperator tool is necessary) . Once separated, move the strut hub assy out of the way and you will see 3 rivets holding in the ball joint. I drilled my rivets out , then ground the head off the rivet with a grinder. I was then able to easily punch out the rivets releasing the ball joint fron the control arm. The installation is the reverse installing the ball joint with the supplied bolts and installing a new stabilizer pin. This tightened my Venture's front end up considerably. I went a little further by replacing the axles then too since I was this far into the job.... the Ventures are said to have problems with them particularly the left one fracturing with a lot of miles . Also you might want to check the bushings on the control arm, they are said to be problematic as well . While it is all torn down is your chance to correct all that is wrong and save yourself another time under the van later.

There are no u-joints on the venture van. It has CV joints that are sealed with rubber boots and cannot be serviced. They can only be removed and rebuilt or replaced, etc
