The typical recommendation to change a belt is 60K. I have seen vehicles with over 200K and it still has original belt. To my surprise small cracks on the tooth side of the belt can be normal on a belt that still has life. When the outside of the belt shows cracks or fraying it is time. Often belts break because the tensioner or rollers are bad. Because the condition of the belt is only one factor, somewhere between 60 to 100K is when the belt should be changed along with tensioner.
