Just changed mine today in a 99 GMC K2500 Suburban 4WD and it took 3 quarts
The 5.4 L ( 330 cubic inch ) V8 in a 2007 Ford F-150 takes 7 quarts ( 6.6 liters ) WITH FILTER CHANGE according to the owners manual
2.9 quarts

I had a 99 F150 4wd with a 4.6L engine. The filter was located in front of the driver's side front tire, attached to the frame rail.
I ASSUME that would be ( 5 U.S. quarts , with engine oil filter change ) * that's what the 4.0 litre V6 engine takes in my 1995 Ford Explorer
