Cost of the transmission + cost of tools + cost of renting a transmission jack if you do it yourself. You'd need a 3/8" drive ratchet and sockets, wouldn't hurt to have a 1/2" drive ratchet and sockets, a pry bar, and a basic set of combination wrenches. If you buy cheap tools at Harbor Freight, you're looking at maybe $75 there, plus they have a cheap transmission jack you can buy for around the same price, although you'll want to separate the transfer case first, as that one isn't long enough to facilitate the transmission and transfer case, both.

Plus, you'll want to check the condition of your clutch plate, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and rear seal while you're at it, and replace them if you see fit to do so.

You want a Chilton or Haynes manual which can take you through this procedure step-by-step, they're about $25 - $30.. a factory repair manual is better, but is also much more expensive.

If you have someone else do it, you're probably looking at about $300 in labor. If you're in the vicinity of Colorado Springs or Denver, I'll do it for half that, plus I have my own tools.
