The water pump on a 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette is located at the front of the engine, mounted on the engine block. To access it, you typically need to remove the serpentine belt and possibly other components like the engine cover. It is situated near the timing cover and is connected to the coolant hoses. Always consult a repair manual for specific instructions on accessing and replacing it.

To change the thermostat on a 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the coolant from the radiator, then locate the thermostat housing, which is typically near the engine's water outlet. Remove the housing by unscrewing the bolts, take out the old thermostat, and clean the mating surfaces. Install the new thermostat, reattach the housing, refill the coolant, and reconnect the battery.
