my son has a 92 camaro and had to have it towed to a shop after breaking down on the highway. the mechanic said he had to adjust the timing before he could look any further as to any more problems it has but didnt tell us how much the timing was gonna cost.. anyone know about how much the is gonna cost?
10 degrees btdc
8 degrees.
0 degrees btdc
ground the diagnostic connector under the dash , set the timing , then unplug connector
There is no such thing as a timing gauge on a car. Timing is set with a tool called a timing light and a mechanic can do that for you and doesn't cost much money.
If you look stright down between the water pump and engine block you will see the timing mark.
A "timing set" includes all the parts needed (new timing chain, tensioners, sprockets, etc.) A timing set for this car costs $132 and up.
you dont its all controlled int he computer tune there is ZERO mechanical adjustment
set cylender one at top dead senter then point thr rotor at cylender one that will set the distributer then turn the cap to finish the timing that always works for me
Answeri just paid 200.00 bucks to have the timing set on my truck. Costs will vary depending on the area and the mechanic who does the job.
as long as you have the timing marks set right on the timing chain gears the only other thing it could be is your distriburetor is set wrong.
unplug the wire that says tach on the dist cap that's the one that reads rpm do this while car is off if this wire is unplugged it will not tell the computer to advance or retart the timing then set your timing to 8 degrees tighten it up and plug it in and that's how you set the timing
