This doesn't answer your question , but I had a Ford mechanic / technician tell
me that every vehicle that came in with a failed fuel pump had less than 1/4 of
a tank of gas . He went on to explain that the gas in the tank cools the electric
fuel pump and when there is less than 1/4 tank of gas the fuel pump isn't
being cooled adequately , so avoid CONSTANTLY driving around with less than
1/4 tank of gas if you want to save the cost of a repair
