I'm sure somewhere out there, there may be an exact measurement for this. I wouldn't have a clue what it is. I will tell you this....if you have the engine tore down enough to see it has slack, and you have any concerns at all, then go ahead and change it. Depending on whether you go with a stock style chain or an good aftermarket will determine the cost. You certainly don't want to have it go out in the middle of no where. Or punch a valve through a piston.
