Depending on the year of the 302 and the vehicle, vacuum lines run all over the engine compartment, and under the dash. With a vacuum leak the engine could idle high or run rough, or the heat and ac controls may not operate properly.

I have found ten different vacuum routing diagrams for 1979 302's. They are referenced by the engine calibration code, I cannot find any information on how to locate my calibration code. If anyone can answer this, then I can help with the vacuum routing.
The vacuum diagram can be found in a service manual. Your local library may have a copy of the manual that you can check out or copy the diagram from.
