In my 1989 G20 conversion van the electric pump in the fuel tank lasted 18 years, and then a good thunk with a mallet on the underside of the tank got me home but then no more, I replaced the pump, less than $100.00 but a fair bit of work getting it done.
Good till they go bad!
probible causes bad fuel pump, bad fuel filter, blown fuse, bad wiring, plugged fuel line, bad fuel pressure regulator, plugged fuel pump suction screen. most likely its just a bad fuel pump. those fuel pumps for carbs and fuel injection systems are cheap and go bad easily. auto zone sells fuel pumps for carbs for $20 and fuel injection pumps are $45
Not often, it is usually the fuel pump that fails.
While fuel pumps can go bad with age, a common failure cause is letting the car run out of gas. The pump can go bad in just a few minutes if there is no gas flowing through it.
Partially clogged fuel filter or you are buying cheap fuel pumps.
fuel pumps go bad after sitting for a while, check that
They simply don't last for ever. The best way to extend the life of any fuel pump is change the fuel filter when needed, it put's less stress on the pump.
Fuel pumps on buick lesabre
most of the time all fuel pumps go bad eventually ...nothing really causes it ...just normal wear and tear
Well its very easy. when you turn ur ignition switch right before starting. You should hear a humming sound in the rear of the Blazer. If you don't. Then its proboly a bad fuel pump. Just so you know the fuel pumps go between 100,000 and up.
mechanical ones, as well as electric one can fail with just normal use due to internal wear. running the vehicle low on fuel and sucking in the dirt from bottom of tank promotes early wear on internal parts...
simply age and use, one tip is they will last much longer when u never let the tank to get below half full. not only dodges any car with a fuel pump.
