open your gas cap, release the pressure under the hood. On the fuel rail is a schrader valve, like on a bicycle tire, put rags or something around the engine to catch the fuel it is under high pressure and wear safety glasses. once the pressure is out of the tank remove the carpeting in the trunk you will see a panel with 4 screws near the back. remove it and there is the fuel pump. it has a ring around it holding it in place loosen the ring and the pump should pop up. disconnect the wiring and remove the pump.
No, you must drop the fuel tank to access the fuel pump.
An electric pump mounted in the fuel tank.
It is in the gas tank.

To change the fuel pump in a 2005 Impala one will need a fuel pump kit, socket wrench set, and a torque wrench. The gas will need to be drained from the tank and the battery will need to be disabled from the engine. The fuel pump is located inside of the fuel tank.
An Inertia Switch is strictly a Ford thing, my friend. Your Impala uses a fuel pump relay that's activated by the PCM to control fuel pump output.
There is an access door in the trunk for the fuel pump. You can change it from there.
Chevrolet does not use a "reset" button for the fuel pump on their vehicles. That is a Ford thing.
No, the 2000 Impala does not have an inertia switch for the fuel pump. Inertia switches are typically found in vehicles with a high center of gravity, like trucks and SUVs, to shut off the fuel pump in the event of a collision. In most cases, the fuel pump in a 2000 Impala is controlled by the vehicle's powertrain control module (PCM) and fuel pump relay.
Could be a clogged fuel filter, a failing fuel pump, or an intermittent fuel pump relay.
The fuel pump on a 94 Chevy Impala SS is changed by lowering the fuel tank, disconnecting the wires, removing the fuel lines, and unbolting the pump. It can then be lifted from the tank and a new pump put into place.
