The problem is with the transmission linkage. First be sure the bulbs are ok...with the help on another, put the car in reverse and check if the "R" is lite on the dash board. If not try to jiggle the shift until the "R" lights. Once the "R" is lite the back up lights will work. Now the matter is adjusting the linkage on the transmission. Be sure all shift positions maintain there gear positions.
