Are you sure its the gauge? A quick easy test is to ground the wire to the block. The gauge should sweep to HOT and peg. If it doesnt then the gauge cluster has to be replaced. Not real sure if you can purchase just the temp gauge in the cluster though. I think it comes as one complete package. This would require some dash removal. Not dificult but time consuming. If you want to go the cheaper route you can always mount a separate temp gauge.
check the connections behind the gauge they could pop loose
The temperature gauge is right in front of the fuel injection screwed into the intake just unplug the wire from the top of it and screw it out and screw in new one plug back up just tighten about a half turn past hand tight.
=A Gage is gun a 12 gage=
If the gauge is reading hot and the car is running normal temperatures, the water temperature sensor needs replaced.
the fuel guage in my 1993 Saturn goes wiggling back and forth. how do i fix this problem?
replace the printed circuit board behind the tach gauge. $15.00
Try replacing temperature sensor
No - the gauge reports 'real-time' the engine temperature. If it is wrong, there is a problem with the sending unit on the engine. This is a pretty easy fix...
Usually the fuel level sensor in the fuel pump. ANSWER A 1993 Ford Explorer also has a 15 amp fuse in location # 17 for the fuel gauge
To fix the temp gauge check the temp sending unit first. A bad sending unit is a common problem with the temp system.
Your gauge could be bad but more than likely it is the temperature sending unit. It is a fairly inexpensive thing to fix.
It could be a faulty gauge, a faulty sensor, or a wiring problem. What engine do you have in what year car?
