This is one I can help with. First, get all the extensions you can lay your hands on. You will need about 3 feet plus of socket extensions. Disconnect the ground to the battery. Next to make things easier, remove the front passenger tire. Be sure to put a jackstand in place. Scope things out a bit first so the jackstand placement will not get in the way of removing the rear starter bolt. Take out the rubber splash guard or at least undo it from one end so it is out of your way. There is an access port held by 4 bolts(glorified machine screws). Remove them and take out the port. There is one bolt facing toward the front of the vehicle and one bolt facing back that secure the starter to the motor and you have to thread the socket extensions in for a very long way to get to them. Undo the electrical connections on the starter, remove the supporting bolts and carefully work the starter out through the limited space. It really will come out. Now, before you spend a fortune on a new starter, check out the contacts in the solenoid on the starter. A new kit can be purchased for a whole lot less and this will normally fix the starter. Sorry I don't have any photos.
AnswerYou don't necessarily have to buy a new starter, you can actually buy a rebuild kit and it's way cheaper. The problem with most of the starters deals with the copper contact tabs inside the starter, over time they just wear out and can be replaced with the kit (just ask for it at your dealer, or automotive parts store). Follow the same instructions provided above and the steps to break down the starter will be provided with the kit. It's really simple and you don't need much experience to do it.
