Go to Autozone and ask to borrow a tool set to remove Ford fuel line connectors.
Just go to your local auto parts and ask for this special tool. Not expensive. It fits around the spring, and releases the lock.
To remove drip line connectors, gently twist and pull them apart to disconnect the tubing. Be careful not to damage the tubing or connectors in the process.
The filter is on the carburetor ,the fuel line from the fuel pump connects to it. Remove the fuel line , using a wrench on the filter as well to keep it from turning , then remove the filter (steel) from the carburetor .
You need to get a quick disconnect tool from any parts house to remove the fuel lines.
You need fuel line clips that release the spring inside the clips.
In the inlet fuel line in the carb. Remove fuel line and then the larger fitting behind, filter should be right there
Drain the fuel from the fuel tank. Remove the fuel line. Remove the fuel pump retaining plate. Remove the fuel pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new fuel pump.
It is on the frame rail just under the drivers door. It sits inside a metal bracket with a large hose clamp. Mine has the "hair-pin" fuel line connectors that are easy to pull out the tabs and remove the filter. on these they should be a silver cannister shaped alot like an oil filter. under the body connected on the fuel line from the tank. will have gas line running into and out of it.
Drain the gas from the gas tank. Remove the fuel line from the gas tank. Remove the fuel pump retaining plate. Remove the fuel pump. Reverse the process to install the new fuel pump.
Just remove the fuel pump fuse at the fuse box. Then start the engine until it burns the little fuel it has on the line. Now you can disconnect the battery and remove whatever it is from the fuel line you need to remove, insure no spark anywhere near.
auto part stores sell a specialty tool to remove ford fuel filters that goes around the fuel line and disingages a clip on the fuel line. press in and pull out.
