First locate the tensioner pulley next remove the large nut that holds it in place then replace with the new tensioner retighten the nut and torque to specs. run the serpentine belt as per the diagram on the front of the engine housing. note: these pulleys should be replaced after about 100,000 km's they usually fall apart on the highway or some place inconvenient. Can be replaced by a DIYer.
Will be the only pulley that is spring loaded and not connected to an engine component
There is no tension adjustment. Tension is automatically adjusted by the idler pulley.
You are talking about the tension on your fan belt? If the belt is still on, use your ratchet to insert into the square hole on the tension arm. Use the ratchet as a lever to move the tension are so you can slip the belt off. Then just unscrew the arm, get the new on, screw it in, and replace the belt and you are good to go.
very simple, there is a tension pulley on top of the AC/Compressor loosen the center bolt on the pulley and the adjusting bolt on top of the tension pulley and simply push the pulley down until the belt comes loose.
Use a socket and ratchet and place on the 95 Deville's belt tensioner pulley. Pull to the side to release tension on the belt. Remove the belt and replace it, then lower the pulley back into place.
You must first loosen the alternator, do not remove it. remove the alternator tension screws top and loosen the bottom screws DO NOT REMOVE push the alternator toward engine, for the a/c belt you must loosen the belt tension pulley and move it. replace in reverse order
The tension spring is broken, and the entire assembly must be replaced.
remove compressor put a bypass pulley in its place replace belt

You'll find an idler/tensioner pulley, which rides on an adjustable arm. First you have to loosen the locknut(14mm?) of the pulley , then tighten/loosen the adjuster rod (8mm?) to adjust the belt tension. Afterwards, tighten the locknut.
with the correct type of socket and bar for easy access I had to use a crow bar as a socket wouldn't fit.
hey had this same prob u cant bypass it but you can buy a bypass pulley but gotta remove the compressor i tried to bypass with a belt but its not enough tension so get the pulley and your good to go
