Replacing the fuel sending unit on an 2000-2005 Impala. Some Impalas have a fuel sending unit service panel. This panel is right behind the back seat. If your car has rear folding seats, its even easier. Remove the panel and disconnect the plugged in wires. The unit is removable by turning the unit out of its placement. Once you turn the unit out of its brackets, pull it up and that's it. You have the fuel sending unit and fuel level sensor right in your hand and its all plastic. This can be accomplished by NOT HAVING TO DROP THE FUEL TANK which the dealers are going to charge you about 3-4 hours of labor. WARNING!!! If you wish to tackle this task, you must remember you are working around flammable fuel, SO NO SMOKING, NOT EVEN IN THE AREA, IS VERY IMPORTANT!

To replace the fuel pressure sensor in a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, first, relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls. Next, disconnect the battery and locate the fuel pressure sensor, which is typically found on the fuel rail. Unscrew the old sensor using a wrench, then install the new sensor by threading it in place and reconnecting any electrical connectors. Finally, reconnect the battery, replace the fuel pump fuse, and check for leaks before starting the engine.
