Then watch the rod in the rear of the new ignition switch as it goes back into the column. I have seen people have to turn the key in the ignition cylinder while pushing gently into the ignition switch. But beware it can turn into a real nightmare. If you use a bran new ignition cylinder, it will state all over do not turn the cylinder until it's installed.
