engine burning oil( white or blueish exhaust smoke ), water in oil, oil in water, water in exhaust.
How do you know the gasket is not bad? f you oil is milky then there is moisture mixed with the oil. This can be a blown head gasket or a warped or cracked head.
White, sweet smelling smoke coming out of tail pipe and or air bubbles constantly bubbling out of radiator cap opening with cap off.
Normally the answer is no. The only way the rings would need to be replaced is if the engine was worn severely or if you just kept driving it with the blown gasket and did serious internal damage. No way to know until it is opened up.
what are you asking here? PLease be more specific ...like - how do I know if my head gasket is blown, or what do I do about a blown head gasket ......
check your oil on the dipstick. if you have a cracked head or blown head gaskets the oil on your dipstick might have bubbles on it from water getting into your oil. another sign is white smoke coming from your tailpipe meaning you are burning water. I don't think you can over heat your oil, if your oil got too hot it would burn and you would smell it.
These engines do not blow head gaskets. You need to replace the black plastic intake or plenum. They will leak coolant into the combustion chamber. Some roge mechanics will tell you it's head gaskets to get you to pay more money. Remove upper intake, remove spark plugs to get coolant out and replace and fill with coolant.
You would eventually find water in the oil, or it would look milky compared to normal oil.
Go to your local parts store and buy a Chilton's manual for your car. There is a lot involved in changing the head gaskets and it's not really feasible to tell you all you need to know here.
Lack of compression
ckeck the oil dipstick if the oil has a color like chocolate milk the oil has water/colant in it which means the head gasket is blown and its leakin water into the engine block
Its probably a blown head gasket. Ford rangers are natorious for blowing head gaskets. Check to see if there is oil in your water if you even have any water left. But if there is a blown head gasket in that spot it would allow water to get into the cylinder and of course make it not run correctly because as we all know WATER DOESN'T BURN. And if your trcuk blows water or alot of steam out the exaust that would be a result of a blown head gasket. If that isn't the case than it could be some stupid problem like the spark plug isn't tightened all the way or the valves cover is leaking because it's not tighted all the way either. I hope this helps GOOD LUCK! Its probably a blown head gasket. Ford rangers are natorious for blowing head gaskets. Check to see if there is oil in your water if you even have any water left. perform a pressure test on the cylinders. if they don't hold pressure it's a blown head gasket
