Yep.
probably 180 deg out on timing
Start and run, no. Cough, backfire, yes.
timing advanced, 180 out, Chevy requires delayed vacuum for advance, did you change the vacuum supply location? firing order 18436572 clockwise on distributer, turning distributer counterclock wise advances timing,
take out distriburtor and turn all the way around make sure number 1 cylinder is all the way up same thing happened to meAnswermine was actually the number 6 &8 spark plug wires were crossed made it backfire through the carb

If it is running at the time it back fires your timing is off about 22 degrees. if it happnes when you are trying to start it then you timing is off 180 degrees.... Your intake valve is open when the spark plug fires.

timing cannot be off 360 degrees it can however be off 180 degrees. if this is what you meant, all you need to do to correct this, is to remove distributer, turn shaft 180 degrees and put it back in. until thi is done the engine will backfire like crazy, and run ruff as hell till fixed
Yes, it's possible for the timing to be 180 degrees out of phase even if the timing marks are aligned on a 2004 Aveo. This can occur if the timing belt or chain has skipped a tooth, leading to incorrect synchronization of the camshaft and crankshaft. In such cases, the engine may not run properly or could backfire, so it's important to verify the timing and ensure all components are correctly aligned. If there's any doubt, it's advisable to consult a professional mechanic for a thorough inspection.
timeing is controled by a key way under the flywheel, if its off te keyway is bent, there is also timing marks on the crankshaft and cam gears. these need to be lined up on top dead center. be careful as not to set them 180 degrees off or the engine will backfire.
you missed your timing marks by at lest 180 degrees do it again. be alert its a fun one to do
Around 180
