It means you need a wheel bearing...I have put HUNDREDS of $ into wheel bearings for my 99 alero. My mechanic advised me to disconnect the anti lock brakes...and I did! Kinda bites, but no more pesky wheel bearings to buy...No more anti lock/low trac...and it passes inspection that way.

Your 99 Alero sounds very loud when driving What can it be It does not sound to be coming from the tires but its a load constant roaring noise?

I drive a '99 Alero and have this noise that sounds like a jet engine. I was told it was most likely my wheel bearings and that Aleros are prone to this problem. My uncle has replaced 9 sets on his Alero in 3 years.
