It means you need a wheel bearing...I have put HUNDREDS of $ into wheel bearings for my 99 alero. My mechanic advised me to disconnect the anti lock brakes...and I did! Kinda bites, but no more pesky wheel bearings to buy...No more anti lock/low trac...and it passes inspection that way.
turn off engine, and start again
The low side service port for the AC on a 2001 Alero is located on the hose that runs from the accumulator to the compressor. It is the larger of the two hoses coming off the compressor.
hubs
Ball bearings are faulty .ABS , trac off , and service engine soon lights all at once
Its on the suction (low) side hose coming from the accumulator going to the evaporator...

On a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero with a 4-cylinder engine, the alternator is located on the front side of the engine, near the top, slightly towards the driver's side. It is mounted on the engine block and can be accessed from the top of the engine compartment. You may need to remove the serpentine belt to replace or service the alternator.
If they both have a similar engine, yes
I drive a '99 Alero and have this noise that sounds like a jet engine. I was told it was most likely my wheel bearings and that Aleros are prone to this problem. My uncle has replaced 9 sets on his Alero in 3 years.
