Yes it was. Most came with either a 389 or 400 but the 326 was a nice option for general use. It was rated at 250 horsepower, had respectable torque and, if you didn't romp it alot it got decent gas mileage.
There were no 326s offered for GTOs. The 389 was the only choice until '67 when the 400 hit the scene.
