Well, honey, the Chevy S10 is technically classified as a "compact pickup truck," so it's more like a half-ton truck. But let's be real, those classifications are about as accurate as a horoscope in a tabloid magazine. Just know that the S10 can handle some cargo, but don't go trying to haul a herd of elephants in it.
NO it is a 1/2 ton. 2500 is a 3/4 ton.
It will bolt up but the wireing harness on the 1500 / 1/2 ton will not plug into the 4L80E transmission, there for it won't work. The 4L80E transmissions are for the 3/4 ton trucks and YOURS is a 1/2 ton and it REQUIRES a 4L60E transmission to be put back in it.
If you are referring to the hauling capacity, the 1500 is considered a half ton pickup.
