No.
put it in drive gear and try and start it if it does start while in gear its bad if it doesnt its good.
A bad neutral switch will not allow a car to start. The switch is there specifically to stop someone from starting a car in gear.
No ... A bad neutral safety switch will let the car start in any gear, but will not prevent the car from going into reverse
Rolls freely in neutral? Bad transmission?
it,s the bearings or a bad gear.
If it's an automatic transmission the linkage needs to be adjusted. On a manual transmission when it pops out of gear it means there may be a bad synchronize for that gear a mechanic will need to repair. Once in a while a manual transmission will start doing this if it is low on gear oil.
clutch switch is bad
A bad neutral safety switch generally causes one of two problems. Either the car can start in any gear, creating a safety hazard, or it will not start at all.
Bad transmission if auto Bad clutch if std.
most likely a bad sensor or someone wired it to do that. on a auto its called a park/neutral sensor on a manual its called a neutral sensor. -mechanic 7+ years
I suspect a bad harmonic balancer. Sloppy and making noise at idle belts squealing while under load. If vehicle has an serpentine belt system could be the idler pulley.
