From 1996 to late 1999 There was a problem with the intake gasket design on the Vortec engines. They have sents redesigned the gasket and now it does not leak as often. Intake Gaskets leaking is a common problem.
Now the only time you have a problem with the heads is when the engine is over heated, and I mean HOT. Then the heads warp and the head gaskets leak or blow.
Chevy just don't have problems with the heads on the V6 and V8 engines.
YES. The intake gaskets have NOTHING to do with the head gaskets. It is a very common problem that the intake gaskets blow. It is not common for the head gaskets to leak unless the engine was over heated, and I mean HOT.
head gaskets blow and intake manifold gaskets break
Yes, 90's Subaru's head gaskets do blow out easily.
There can be many resons for this. A common cause for this is an air pocket in the cooling system if the 3.4l v6 engine. Air pockets can be cause by low coolant level, or more serious engine problems- I.E. leaking intake manifold gaskets, blown head gaskets.
A head gasket can blow on any thing.
You may have a intake manifold leak which is causing BLOWBACK ...if the engine has been pressured at one time or another you may have a leak at your manifold gaskets... You have upper and lower gaskets which are rubber and one way you can perform a check is to remove one end of your hose at the PCV valve and blow cigarette smoke into hose and check and see if smoke exits from under the intake. If this occurs you will then need to change the manifold gaskets... GOOD LUCK
ofcourse they do, they blow on any engine
Been a tech for quite some time now and I find this to be most accurate: my best answer is....so go, some blow. Unfortunately if it were and internal coolant leak that prompted the replacement of the intake gaskets, it was not caught in time and 'washed out" the crank bearings. Sorry for the bad luck, but it is now beyond repair.
Head gaskets seal the clyinder head to the block. Head gaskets usually blow when the vehicle has been run too hot for too long. Heat warps the cylinder head and gasket quits sealing, known as a blown head gasket. There are other reason for blowing a head gasket, but this one of the most common reasons.
You could blow the gaskets
Engine Overheating is the major cause.
The lower intake gaskets have most likely failed, and you are very low on coolant or there is air in the cooling system.
