According the the owners manual on a 2.2L 1997 manual, 2-door, it says it holds 15.2 gallons. An owner's manual update (for my 2000 model) I got with my used Cavalier says change to 14.2 gallons .

The master cylinder on a 2001 Chevy Cavalier is located on the driver's side of the engine bay, near the back of the engine compartment. It's mounted on the brake booster, which is attached to the firewall. The master cylinder is typically a cylindrical reservoir that holds the brake fluid and is connected to the brake lines. To access it, you may need to remove any covers or components obstructing the view.

The water pump is located right under the alternator in the 2001 Cavalier. In order to get to it, you will need to remover the alternator, and the bracket that holds the alternator in place. I just changed the water pump on mine this weekend, so if you need any more assistance, e-mail me with the subject heading cavi. xaheadofthegamex@aol.com
