Yes there is a ground wire by the tank it does fail intermitantaly . What i did is found the plug to the tank under the van and ran a new ground to the sub frame and it is still working good .It also is the ground for the fuel pump in the gas tank and can save alot of money from a false diagnoisuse.
Probably your sending unit in the tank is bad.
Do you mean fuel sender? If you do it's located in the fuel tank and is a complete unit (pump & sending unit).
This depends on what sending unit you are speaking of. If it's a fuel sending unit, this is in the gas tank. You will have to drop the fuel tank to do this.
To attach the ground on a gas tank sending unit, first ensure the vehicle's battery is disconnected for safety. Locate the ground wire, which is typically a black wire, and connect it to the designated ground terminal or a clean metal surface on the sending unit. Secure the connection using a bolt or screw, ensuring it is tight and free of rust or corrosion for a good electrical connection. Finally, reconnect the battery and test the sending unit for proper operation.
On the fuel sending unit there may be one ground wire going into the tank. On the inside of the tank there are two ground wires. One goes to the sending unit, and the other to the fuel pump. One of those ground wires may be faulty.
On most American made cars you can test the sending unit by removing the wire attached to the sending unit at the tank and ground or touch to the tank itself. If the needle on the gauge goes to full, the sending unit is registering properly. If it does not move it could also indicate the wire has been severed between the tank and the guage.
My gas guage is moving irraticly I think it's a ground wire. which wire is the ground? I dont have a multi meter
Yes you have to drop the fuel tank to access the fuel gauge sending unit on top of the tank.
Lower the Gas tank. Remove the sending unit/fuel pump from the tank and replace the unit. The sending unit and fuel pump come together.
Usually the sending unit (on the pump, in the tank) has failed.Usually the sending unit (on the pump, in the tank) has failed.
The fuel sending unit is located inside of the gas tank.
In the fuel tank. Fuel tank must be removed to gain access to the sending unit.
