To recharge the air conditioning system on a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu, first, locate the low-pressure service port, typically found on the larger diameter line. Purchase an R-134a refrigerant recharge kit, which includes a gauge and hose. Attach the hose to the low-pressure port, start the engine, and turn on the AC to the maximum setting. Follow the instructions on the refrigerant can to add the refrigerant until the correct pressure is reached, as indicated by the gauge.
To recharge the air conditioner in a 2002 Chevy Malibu, first locate the low-pressure service port, which is usually near the accumulator or dryer. Attach a refrigerant can with a gauge to this port, following the instructions on the can for proper use. Start the engine and turn the AC to its maximum setting; then, slowly release the refrigerant into the system while monitoring the pressure gauge. Once the recommended pressure is reached, disconnect the can and replace the port cap.
