It may have the original transfer case that was recalled
put trans in neutral and put 4wheel in gear then go to drive in stop mode only
My f150 shifts from 2wheel to 4wheel on the fly, but to use 4low you need to be stopped with your transmission in neutral to engage the low range in my transfer case.
Lock your hubs and put the car in neutral, then push the 4X4 button, same thing with low range
when i try to engage the wheel wheel drive it grinds i have my truck in neutral what could be the problem what am i doing wrong
To engage 4-wheel drive (engine running), you should put the transmission into "Neutral" and manually engage it with the manual transfer knob located to the left of the auto/manual shifter. up/left is 2wheel "high", down/left is 4wheel "high", up/right is transfer case "neutral", and down/right is 4wheel "low". Once you engage your setting selected, look for a green "I" like icon in the bottom right ofyour gauge cluster showing that you are in 4wd. You may have difficulty making this icon appear, just hold brake and move your shifter into drive then into reverse and back to drive. If you cannot achieve engagement, contact your nearest service technician.
First you put the vehicle on Neutral then swithc to 4LO it will engage. If a wheel doesn't engage, then you have a vaccum line problem. See owners manual.
check vaccum lines on differential or by shift linkage
All that you do if put the shifter in the four wheel drive position.
there are many things that could potentially be wrong with your case. can u engage your 4wheel?
Do you have the tranny gear select in Neutral and vehicle speed below 15 MPH?yes i do and it still does not engageYou like have a defective encoder motor. Buy a new motor and the problem will likely go away. GM has had many problems with these motors.
With the engine running , and your foot on the brake pedal , shift to neutral , select 4x4 low and then put transmission in gear ( for use on surfaces that allow " slippage " such as gravel etc . ) To select 4x4 low the transmission must be in neutral to engage / disengage
If the button is not working, might be a vacuum line problem. Vacuum lines engage the 4x4, might need to check the lines to the 4x4 transfer case.
