I have the same car,and have had this problem on both left and right signals. first thing to check is for a blown bulb,next check turn signal flasher if still does not work you need to remove the front turn signal bulb and check the conector where the bulb plugs in. this is probably rusted in the metal contacts. all you have to do is clean it up and make sure that the two spring like contacts are not stuck down cause this is what is shorting the bulb . just release the contacts and make sure they make contact with the bulb, replace and your set.
