There is a button on the dash board to release the rear deck lid . It is to the right of the speedometer. It is the top button. The button may not work all of the time. I have found a grounding problem with the release selinoid in my car. To open the front trunk there is a release under the dash on the left about 6 inches in by your left knee .
my uncles 84 fiero only opens with keys. My Fiero has a button on the top right of the gauge cluster that will open the trunk. It has to have a battery or the engine running to do so though.

Yes. There is a release lever on the inside of the trunk latch so the trunk can be opened from the inside. Page 84 of the Owner's Manual says "To open the trunk, push the release lever to the left. Parents should decide if their children should be shown how to use this feature."
84-88 and they made prototypes for the 90's but never manufactured them.

On the 1984 Monte Carlo, the trunk release is typically located inside the vehicle, on the driver's side. You can find it near the bottom of the dashboard, often close to the driver's seat or on the left side of the console. Additionally, some models may have a manual release lever in the trunk itself, accessible through the back seat.
No. Different connectors, different lengths
no such thing as a 1984 GT Fiero
Physically, yes. GM's drivetrain are highly swapable. But there can be lots of differences. I'm assuming you are pulling "x" tranny out of an 84 to put in a 87 that had "x" tranny. Not pulling an "x" tranny out of an 84 to put in an 87 that had a "y" tranny. The devil's in the details. Flywheels might not be the same. Most auto part places have the info and will glad to help.
