The 1997 Cavalier has two motor mounts, as well as a transmission mount. If the mounts are broken the motor can move around and cause damage to components under the hood.
My 1997 Chevy Cavalier with 2.2L motor used a 15mm socket.
Well yes and no. Both have a 2.2 four cylinder if I'm not mistaken, but I don't think the earlier Cavalier's have the EcoTec motor. And you should be able to get the engine from the '03 into the '97 with no problem.
One on passenger side by the coolant overflow tank. A strut style mount on the bottom passenger side next to wheelwell. A transmission mount is located inside the wheelwell on the drivers side.
You can swap the engine from your 1997 Cavalier 2.2 liter engine to your 2000 Chevy Cavalier. The wiring harness and motor mounts should be in exactly the same.
Which mount are you looking for? There are two, the upper mount and the lower dog bone mount.
They are located near the axles. You will need an 18 MM wrench for this.

The 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier motor will fit into the 1997 Pontiac sun fire. The motor mounts and the wiring harness are exactly the same.
