The lower intake manifold gaskets on 3800 engines are likely to go bad at around 80,000 miles. This is caused from the gaskets being made with rubber and being eaten away by the "So-Called Dexcool" coolant. It is best to replace this gasket as well as the upper plenum gasket with a metal gaskets and change from dexcool coolant to regular antifreeze. This is an expensive repair...so be prepared.
Leaking from? Hose Water pump Intake gasket
If really on top then probably the intake manifold gasket ,study it closely .
i had this problem the intake manifol gasket is blowed
Without seeing or pressure testing the system my most educated guess would be that the intake manifold is leaking.
You've got either a leaking intake gasket or a leaking head gasket. It's a serious problem which needs to be repaired.
you need to take the intake maniflod off, and the 2 screws on the back of the manifold. total time 2.5 hours, replace intake gasket or reseal it...
Intake manifold gasket leak....big problem with that engine. Sorry for the bad news.
THE CAUSE COULD BE A STUCK THERMOSTAT , OR A BLOWN HEAD GASKET, OR A LEAK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OR INTAKE MANIFLOD GASKET. A CRACK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS VERY COMMON.. NORTY
maybe it's not the intake gasket. Maybe it is the intake manifold itself, they were bad about cracking. Also there is a coolant line that runs under the manifold that likes to leak as well. It's more likely to be a ruptured/cracked intake manifold as this is a common problem on these cars. See detailed info on the problem (and how to fix it) here: http://www.autoclinix.com/Manifold.htm
if its a 3.1v6,then it is a intake manifold gasket problem, the 3.1 a noted for this!! check to see if gasket is bad.
By chance, did you use sealant when you put the new gasket on? If not, there is your problem.
If you are talking about A/C refrigerant / Freon leak, Then the intake has NOTHING to do with the A/C / Air conditioning system. Now if you are leaking antifreeze/ engine coolant and YOU KNOW it is leaking from the corners of the intake, Then YES you MUST replace the intake gaskets. Now you didn't say what you were working on. But if it is a V-6 or V-8 VORTEC engine then it is a VERY COMMON Problem on those engines for the intake to leak antifreeze.
