First, make sure that you have the correct oil filter to replace the old one.

Then:

-Put a drain pan under the oil pan drain plug

-Remove drain plug and let all oil drain

-Replace drain plug

-Move drain pan so that it's under oil filter

-Remove old oil filter

-Unwrap/unpackage new oil filter

-Dip your finger in waste oil and rub a thin layer over new filter o-ring (black rubber ring)

-Spin on new filter until snug

-Add new oil to oil fill in engine compartment

-Start vehicle and allow engine to run until oil pressure is within operating range

-Shut off engine

-Check oil dipstick for proper level and add/drain accordingly
