I have a 96 too. First disconect the pos terminal of your battery. Open your fuse box of the passenger side dash. Locate the airbag fuse and remove. Now remove the lower dash panel underneath the steering wheel and locate the yellow wire with the snap quick connector and disconect it. This wire should also say airbag. If you still have problems consult your repair manual for full details and pictures.
