(1) You must first remove the bracket clamp that retains the wiring harness to the trnsmission. (2) Disconnect the starter wires from the starter and that should give you the clearance you need to get a wrench on the upper starter bolt. (3) then remove the lower bolt.
Disconnect negative battery cable at battery. Remove spare tire if under hood. Disonnect starter solenoid trigger wire. Unhook positive battery cable at starter. Remove upper and lower starter mounting bolts. Remove starter. Install in reverse order.

To remove the upper starter bolt on a 2007 Honda Civic, first, disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues. Then, access the starter by removing any necessary components, such as the air intake or engine cover, for better visibility and space. Use a ratchet and the appropriate socket size (usually 12mm) to remove the bolt, turning it counterclockwise. Once the bolt is removed, you can proceed to detach the starter from the engine.

I have a 93. Same setup. Start by taking the two fans off. Then the windshield washer tank, then the support bar on the left side, the the two wishbones, then the air cleaner, then take a swivel to get to the back bolt and a normal socket to get to the front one..
Disconnect the battery cables at battery. Loosen and remove the nut securing the lead from the solenoid to the starter. The starter assembly is fastened to the powerhead with four bolts, two top, and two at the bottom of the starter. Make note of any ground wires connected to these mounting bolts, they will need to be refastened. Also, note position of starter before removal to facilitate installation.Remove mounting bolts and starter assembly, note the "L" shaped, top end cap, of starter. Remove the two rubber dampners from slots on upper end cap of old starter, install in the replacement unit. Slide the upper and lower rubber mounts off old starter and install on new one. Orient new starter so that the point of the upper end cap fits into corrosponding "V" notch in the engine block, ( this will hold starter securely in place, and prevent it from rotating out of position ). Install mounting bolts, ( don't forget your ground wires ), and tighten evenly. Reattach the starter lead, and secure with nut. Reconnect the battery cables, tighten securly.

To change the starter do these steps: 1. Remove the negative battery termnal off the battery. 2. Take the battery and tray out of the engine bay. 3. Take the big positive battery cable off of the starter. 4. Take the small s terminal off the solenoid. 5. Take the upper mounting bolt loose with a ratchet, extension and socket. 6. Take the 2 lower mounting bolts loose. 7. Lift the starter up and out of the engine bay.
