Disconnecting the negative battery cable for 5 minutes will sometimes reset the light, but no always. If not, you will need to reset it with an OBD2 scan tool. But, you can reset the light all you want but unless you repair the problem that caused the light to come on in the first place it will come back on in probably less than 1 mile of driving. To get the car inspected you will have to repair it.
