No it should not, It is now hooked to direct vacuum witch is wrong.
It should be hooked to ported vacuum. That means that it only has vacuum when you speed the engine up and not when it is idleing.
The spark plug gap for a 1979 Ford F-250 with a 400 engine is between 0.42 and 0.46. This range is included in the factory settings.

I have found ten different vacuum routing diagrams for 1979 302's. They are referenced by the engine calibration code, I cannot find any information on how to locate my calibration code. If anyone can answer this, then I can help with the vacuum routing.
Passanger side of engine, comes up between spark plug #2 and #4 (first and second spark plugs from the front on the passanger side.
