I thought I had the same problem with my grand am, and it turned out that I needed to go to the dealer and have the transmission fluid flushed, and changed. It seem this is not someone a car owner can do unless they have a way to pick the front end up to let the ait out of it. I had to do it around 80,000 miles
I just had this problem with my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. The problem is a short in the "multi-function switch." When I took it to get fixed, they told me that a lot of Pontiac Grand Ams have had this problem, and mine was fixed through warranty. If that is not the problem with your car, check the "signal flasher relay." Hope I helped!
take it to dealership
You can do it with a scanner. Usually when the security light is flashing it means there is a problem with the passlock system. Dealer item and about $500.00-$700.00 to replace parts & reprogram.
Your Pontiac has a problem in the electronic block, which is controlling the turn signals, the tail and brake lights and etc. It shouldn't be a big deal.
security lock out had same problem with our 2004 grand am
The Optispark distributor is notorious for causing this problem.
Could be a bad flasher
To bypass the security pull the fuse. For the other issues there may be a problem with the computer in the car.
Yes. When your GM security system activates, it disables fuel delivery to prevent startup.
The light is flashing because there is a problem. The problem will need to be diagnosed and repaired to stop the flashing.
turn the key to the on position without starting the vehicle and leave for ten minutes until the security light stops flashing. then turn key to off and back to on and start vehicle. if problem persists you may need a new ignition switch
The pass lock system has a problem. A lot of people replace fuel pumps thinking that its the problem when the security is the real culprit all along. It's off to the GM dealership as they need to repair the security system (probably lock cylinder & module) and then they have to reprogram the computer to accept the new parts. This is only dealer specific hardware/software that can do this. Approx. $400.00 - $600.00.
