According to the 1998 Mercury Mystique Owner Guide : With engine oil filter change : The 2.5 liter V6 engine takes ( 5.5 liters / 5.8 U.S. quarts of 5W-30 )
engine swapShort answer, no. Based on information from ADP Hollander. Edit:There should be no problem, provided that they were the same type, ie, two V6's or two I4's. I have the engine from a '96 Contour or Mystique in my 2000 Cougar with no problems, you wont even have to deal with the issue of return-vs-returnless fuel systems.
For a Mercury Cougar , 2.5 litre V6 engine : According to the 1999 to 2002 Owner Guides : ( Motorcraft FL-820 engine oil filter )
The exact cost to fix an engine cylinder misfire on a 2000 Mercury Mystique will depend on the exact type of engine it has, but can cost around $1,000.
I have a 1998 Mercury Mystique LS automatic w/ a 2.5 liter V6 and it takes Mercon V transmission fluid. I'm not certain if it is the same for you, you should probably consult your owners manual.
check your owner's manual
On my 99 it is a 7.5 amp and it is found in the Passenger compartment fuse panel...Hope this helps!
According to the 1999 Mercury Sable Owner Guide : ( 5W-30 )
Well, replacing transmission fluid on a 1999 Mercury Mystique with a 2.5L V6 engine is a delicate process, but don't worry, we'll make it a happy little project. First, locate the transmission fluid dipstick, then use a funnel to slowly add new transmission fluid while the engine is running. Remember, take your time and show your car some love as you take care of it.
