I've had 3 Malibus: One 2000 and two 2003's All of them have had the cut out issue. Last of the three I have still does cut in and out. If you review the manual for expected operation, it does not work as designed. I once asked for service from a Chevy dealer who indicated it was to prevent overworking of the a/c condenser. They never fixed it and I never truly learned why it is not working to spec. Seems with the answer provided, there must be somethign electronic or a sensor that trips the function.
