What can cause white smoke in a warm engine?

could it be white vapor? If so its probably head gasket.

What causes white smoke from diesel engine when its hot outside?

White smoke is unburned fuel, usually caused by low combustion temps in the engine. It should clear up after the engine warms up. If it takes a long time or the smoke persists when the engine is warm, it could be retarded injection. If you have a cold start lever pull it to the first notch and see if the smoke disappears. If not it could be an injector problem, or an injection problem (injection pump TDI... etc)

When warm Car exhaust smokes?

Blue smoke = Blue smoke is caused by engine oil entering the cylinder area and being burned along with the fuel air mixture. Black smoke = Black smoke is caused by excess fuel that has entered the cylinder area and cannot be burned completely. Another term for excess fuel is "running rich." White Smoke = White smoke is caused by coolant entering the cylinder, and the engine trying to burn it with the fuel. The white smoke is steam. Warning: If you see white smoke, stop driving this car immediately. Severe engine damage will occur if you continue to drive this vehicle. You have severe engine problems as in a blown head gasket or cracked head.

I have a 1988 Mustang 4 cylinder with white smoke coming from exhaust is it bad air-to-fuel mixture or something else?

I'm not a mechanic / technician , but it sounds like you are getting engine coolant into an engine cylinder if you are getting white smoke out of the exhaust when your engine is warm ( it could be a bad head gasket , a warped head , etcetera )

Is it normal for a 1998 Pathfinder to have white smoke coming from the exhaust when cold but not after the engine starts to warm up?

Yes, it's just condensation....as long ads there is no trace of smoke at all once it warms up. If there is some smoke with a sweet smell to it,then the head gasket or head itself is cracked.

What can cause insuffcient engine warm up?

A defective thermostat.

What could cause white smoke from tailpipe and knocking noises in engine in a 1999 grand am?

Is the white smoke steam or oil vapor? If it's steam, it just needs to warm up, if it's oil vapor it's probably pretty serious. Same with the knocking. It could be timing or it could be a rod bearing or any of a number of potential problems that fall somewhere between the two in severity; it all depends on what it sounds like.

Why the steam engine is not working at now?

Expensive. Pollution. Coal. Heat. Smelly. Global Warming. Fire. Smoke. Smoke Inhalation. Warm. Dirtying of lungs. Slow.

Why is my 1999 Saturn smoking white smoke from exhaust?

When an exhaust pipe is cool, the exhaust will start to allow water vapor to condense. If the exhaust is white you're seeing a vapor cloud; it's normal and unavoidable. Once the engine and exhaust are warm, the vapor cloud should stop.

What does white smoke out of a Lexus ES 400 mean?

white smoke out of the tail pipe especially on '''warm''' weather usually means antifreeze/coolant leaking in to the cilynders. you may have a blown head gasket(cheapest to replace) and or a crack/warped cilynder head or crack block(not cheap) if the smoke its happening in '''Cold''' weather it could simply be condensation which is normal. to find out exactly ,in a v6 engine ,simply take out the 2 middle spark plug (1 of each side) and crank the engine. if you see white smoke come out of either one that's where your leak is and you would go from there.(just crank the engine '''Do NOT''' let the engine run for long without sparkplugs or catalyc converter damage may occur.in a 4 cilynder engine take out any center spark plug and see where the leak is .(either way in a 4 cilynder engine you only got 1 gasket)

What would cause the heater on a 1997 Grand Am Gt to not warm up completely and only blow slightly warm air?

It could be the thermostat on the engine. If the engine does not warm up adequately the heater will never blow hot air.

What can cause a 1994 Mazda MX-6 not to heat up after the engine is warm?
