it could be either the spark plugs/wires, ignition coil, or ecu. or all of the above. but those 3 are the only things i can think of. oh wait one more, it could also be one or more of your cylinders not getting enough gas, because my 96 neon had a misfiring problem after i fixed the fuel pump and it was because the engine wasn't getting enough gas, my injectors were a little bit plugged. but fortunately for me that "fuel injector" stuff i bought at autozone cleaned them enough for my car to work. hope this helps.
