My '92 PA did exactly the same thing. It can be caused by the failure of either the cam or crank sensor. Both are needed for the computer to send the fire signal to the correct spark plug. Both of mine failed over time. Having the error code read out will tell which one is bad.
No.
Stalling while driving may be caused by a collapsing or kinked neoprene fuel line.
Year, Make, Model, engine size please. possibly an ignition or sensor (electronic part).
Oil in the distributor.

There are several reasons an engine may stall while driving, here are three. The fuel tank is empty and the engine is starved of fuel. Not enough power to climb a hill causing a stall.Faulty or damp electronics on a petrol engine can also cause a stall.
check the fuel filter, may be clogged.

When it dies, is it a sudden stall, or does it run rough, and then die? If its sudden, it is most likely a electrical problem, but if it runs rough, or dies when accelerating, it might be mechanical. Such as the fuel lines, carb, etc.
