if the leak is on the hose it has a crack or hole in it, if it is at the fitting end it is probably an o ring seal gone bad.
According to the 2003 Ford Focus Owner Guide : ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid is used as the power steering fluid )
Mecron ATF is used for the Ford Focus.
For a Ford Focus, the recommended power steering fluid is typically Mercon ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid). It's essential to check your owner's manual for the specific year and model, as fluid specifications can vary. Some newer models may use a specific power steering fluid instead of ATF. Always ensure that you use the correct fluid to maintain optimal steering performance and prevent damage.
Very carefully and with a turkey baster.
Power steering should never go down unless there is a leak found in the system. Therefore, you generally would not need to top up your brake fluid on a ford Focus.
The power steering fluid reservoir is by the firewall towards the passenger side of the engine
A Ford Focus may leak power steering fluid on the driver's side due to a few common issues, such as a damaged power steering hose, a failing power steering pump, or a leaking steering rack. Additionally, worn seals or gaskets in these components can contribute to fluid leaks. It's essential to inspect the system for visible damage and check fluid levels regularly to identify and address any issues promptly.
As long as you use the correct standard of steering fluid, mixing red and blue shouldn't be a problem. I had blue in my focus and bought some official standard steering fluid from my local ford dealership. It turned out to be red but I put it in and the car runs fine. If in doubt give your local ford dealer a ring for some help!
At least for the 2005 model, the manual recommends using automatic transmission fluid to refill the power steering level in the car. Consult your manual to verify.
Did it go left or right........ or straight ahead? It's usually the driver's interaction with the steering wheel that causes it.
The power steering reservoir can be located on the right-hand side of the engine, near the back. The cap will be labeled as power steering fluid only.
